Subjects: The first piece realistically depicts a Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio), laying on a fishing landing net next to a centerpin fishing reel. The second a Chub, set amongst leaves, elderberries, fungi and a fishing fly in the foreground. Finally the third features a Pike laid on the grass besides an old broken wagon wheel and a fishing rod.
Artist Background: Born in Hertfordshire, Pledger is internationally celebrated for his intricate, self-taught attention to detail regarding freshwater and marine fish. He famously won the Francis Williams Illustration Award from the Victoria and Albert Museum
